Subhasan Bhattarai - Together for Nepal

Message from the Founder

On the mid-spring of 2015, two mega earthquakes (7.8 & 7.2 rector scale) hit Nepal causing death of 9,000+ people in addition to making over three million people homeless. This tragedy caused a colossal economic loss of over US$10 billion which was highly overwhelming for already economically struggling Nepal, which faces incessant political instability.

In the aftermath of the quakes, a large number of individuals, teams, & formal/non-formal organizations from Nepal, numerous parts of the world started to distribute immediate relief items, i.e. tarps, tents, food & sanitation items.

Thereafter, a spirit of extraordinary solidarity among individuals & organizations was born right away -which was a reminder of the story of the mythological bird, the phoenix, rising again from the ashes of defeat. TOGETHER FOR NEPAL (TFN) was born in 2016 from aforesaid spontaneous cooperation and unprecedented synergy -among the concerned ones.

TFN is registered with the Nepal Government as a Humanitarian organization (Non-profit), and it focuses on four (4) segments:

1. Integrated Rural Development 2. Emergency Responses & Post-Recovery, 3. Volunteerism, 4. Servant Leadership Development

With deep conviction that strong communities (stimulated by the spirit of servant leadership & volunteerism) are the pillars for peaceful & prosperous Nepal, we have been assisting communities to address socio-economic & environmental challenges to help build a better future under bottom up approach.

Under building sustainable local communities, we have implemented projects related with: Emergency Responses, Post-Disaster recovery, Agriculture Empowerment, Micro-Enterprise development, Social Awareness & Mobilization, Environment Conservation, Education/Health Empowerment, Water & Sanitation Hygiene (WASH), Community based infrastructure development, Skill Development, Livelihood Enhancement, local market strengthening & more -targeting mostly rural areas under right based approach. In the future, we would like to expand our rural development initiative to ‘adopt a village’ programs as well.

We also mobilize local & international volunteers for:- emergency responses, adding value to our grass root level ongoing/past projects, & lending a hand to various organizations affiliated w/ us. Volunteers assist in sectors such as: govt. schools, local health units, local farms, temporary shelters constructions, community infrastructure developments, Handicaps centers, etc. Through ‘labor of love’, while making a difference & bringing joy in the communities, the volunteers also go through inner positive transformation via unique experiences.

We are also engaged in leadership development/motivational trainings seminars under the spirit of servant leadership targeting school & college students, other youth groups, & working professionals. As an organization standing up for inclusivity, we have been providing scholarships to the physically & economically challenged trainees on the training/seminars.

TFN is fully committed to stand in the gap to create visible impact, and all the aforementioned activities are just a beginning of our long journey for social transformation.

TFN fully subscribes to the universal declaration that “all human beings are born free & equal in dignity & rights.” Accordingly, TFN does not discriminate any person based on his/her race, religion, color, national, origin, gender, age, or status as differently abled.

Since the inception, TFN team has profoundly witnessed how any person -regardless of his/her age, sex, caste, creed, or economic status- can act as catalyst to bring positive changes in society & this powerful fact has really encouraged our organization.
TFN operates through: grants & institutional contributions (foundations, corporations, etc.), individual donors, earned revenue, in-kind donations & others.
