In the heart of Bayalbas, Sarlahi, ‘Hope Heaven’ emerges as a beacon of education & support for children. The proposed project aims to uplift about 100 Dalit children and indirectly their families, by establishing a two-story childcare center with four classrooms, two toilets, & a small office for the teachers. Besides, the project will not only assist the children by providing nutritious meal once daily, but also ensures a nurturing environment where they can thrive through various other support mechanisms.

We are assured that the ripple effect of this project will extend beyond immediate relief, nurturing roots that run deep, empowering the Dalit children to grow stronger & better-equipped to face the challenges ahead. For parents grappling with extreme poverty, the burden eases as their children receive additional quality education and care at the center. This project will not only make a tangible impact on the young lives but also contribute to the foundation of a resilient community. It can furnish the roots for a brighter tomorrow.

Situational Analysis: The area has experienced rapid growth over the last few years, yet the gap between the rich and poor in especially persists. In particular, marked by a high number of Ultra Poor (UP), Bayalbas faces multidimensional poverty, including a lack of basic necessities, illiteracy, physical disability, and ill-treatment by “higher-class” members. Similarly, drug addiction among youths & child marriage are other burning issues of the area.

The key data highlights the challenging living conditions of 173 households (HHs) classified as Ultra Poor households in total of 802 HHs. There are hundreds of children who don’t go to school.

• Extreme Low attendance in schools
• Lack of reliable housing
• Open defecation leading to health risks

Project Objectives:

1. Establish a two-story childcare center with four classrooms, two toilets and a office space.
2. Provide tuition assistance for additional quality education.
3. Supply nutritious food daily to enhance the overall well-being.
4. Provide other supplementary support (i.e. stationery, dress, shoes, etc.)
5. Create a hub for knowledge to foster a conducive learning environment.

 Outcomes:

At the project’s culmination, significant positive outcomes are anticipated:

• Increased awareness regarding the importance of both formal and non-formal education among the targeted children and their parents/guardians;
• Enhanced physical and mental well-being of the children, reflecting an improvement in overall health;
• Elevated nutritional status;
• Empowerment of the community, as the project not only addresses immediate needs but also establishes a foundation for long-term visible impact.

Sustainability: The sustainability of this project rests mostly on a synergetic partnership among project staffs, community members, volunteers, & local authorities. The project management team will ensure that this partnership is sustained through constant dialogue & communication. There will be set of sustainability regulations such as agreements between the project management team and the community to ensure that the project will be continued. Linkage will be created with local stakeholders including school, clubs for future support. This is possible as children groomed by us will be sent to school, which benefits the school as well.
